Game 2 Pirates vs. Braves

The second and final game of the series between the Pirates and Cardinals was an extra-innings thriller. Chris Sale pitched an up-and-down seven innings with seven strikeouts and two walks, but showed electrifying stuff which, at times, baffled the opposing hitters. The pirates crawled back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at four in the eighth inning on a Willin Rosario RBI bloop single. In the 10th inning, the Cards threatened with a runner on second and just one out. Andrew McCutchen responded to the moment by throwing out the runner at the plate to keep the game tied at 4. Starlin Castro had the game-winning RBI in the 12th inning to send the Pirate fans home unhappy.
In the series opener between the Braves and the Pirates, the Pirates pitching staff struggled to keep the ball in the ballpark. Starter James Shields struggled through just two innings before getting pulled from the game. The Braves cruised to a 9-3 victory and had homers from several different guys. The pirates will send Francisco Liriano to the hill tomorrow in hopes to end their skid against Atlanta.
